Funeral services for Barry Fitzgerald Camman, 47, were held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 9, at the American Lutheran Church, Melvin, with Rev. David Finley officiating. Interment was in Union Cemetery, Harris, with the Sanborn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. He died October 4, 2008.
Barry Fitzgerald Cammann, the son of Sarah Tesso, was born in Bakersfeld, Calif., on August 15, 1961. He grew up and received his education in Bakersfield. He was married to Brenda Ackerman on April 12, 1986. The couple made their home in the Bakersfield area, where Barry worked in the oil fields. They moved to Iowa in 1993, and settled in Melvin in 1995. For the past 15 years, he worked as a welder. He worked at Rome LTD for 11 years, maintainer for 1 1/2 years and was currently employed by Wimbco of Ottumwa. He was a member of the Boilermakers Union. Survivors are his wife, Brenda of Melvin; his children: Kari and her husband, Hentie Groenewald of Melvin; Cody of Melvin; and Chris of Sheldon; one granddaughter: Madison; his mother: Sarah Tesso of Sanborn; one brother, Michael (Evelyn) Cammann of California; four sisters: Christine (Jim) Bryant of Sanborn; Terri Pomerleau of New Mexico; Irene Henley of Arkansas; and Nellie (Ted) Hall of California; Brenda's family: her mother and step-father: Karen and Marvin Timmons of Melvin; her siblings: Becky (David) Heitritter of Melvin; Todd (Sue) Ackerman of Ocheyedan; Troy (Jackie) Ackerman of Sheldon; and Stan (Aggie) Ackerman of Hatfield, Minn.; a special friend, Vivian of Idaho. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick and Brenda's father, Stan Ackerman.
