Local postal changes in the works

Jamie Vickery, left, has taken over as officer in charge (OIC) at the Ocheyedan post office effective this past Friday. Postmaster Mary Newell will be the OIC at the Primghar post office, following the resignation of the postmaster there. Vickery has worked at the Harris post office for the past six years-the past two as OIC.
Jamie and her husband, Keith (a long distance truck driver), reside in Ocheyedan and have two daughters: Noel, a senior, and Riane, seventh grade, who attend S-O schools.
Postal employee Barb DeBondt, who has worked in the Ocheyedan facility, has been named as OIC at Harris. Newell noted that all of the postal changes are temporary at this time. No permanent decisions have been received from postal executives.

Despite the financial downturn the country has been experiencing for the past few years, Osceola Community Hospital has weathered the storm very well, stated Rob Schilia of Clifton Larson Allen, He reported his findings during OCH's annual meeting January 16. Schilia is part of the Minnesota company that performs the annual audit of the local healthcare facility.
